Looking for a Home

Louisville is a pizza town. Plain and simple. Just look at this map. Clearly there is no shortage when it comes to different pizzeria options. We are a city that appreciates good food and we like to have choices, especially when it comes to our pizza. But when reviewing the top twenty pizza cities in the US, Louisville is not even a bleep on the radar. Some will argue that our size hinders us, but to this we say look at cities like Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Austin, Texas. Like us, these cities have a completely different metropolis than the iconic pizza cities of Chicago and New York City. What these cities do have however, is a cutting edge culinary scene where pizza is really changing thanks to an artisan movement.
Heightened food appreciation, the quest for authenticity and quality, as well as the economy are all contributing factors in the birth of a new pizza age, one that has a distinctive Neapolitan emphasis. Smaller, chewier pies, minimally topped and artfully blistered in a wood fired oven are the laurels that countless pizzerias across the country are being recognized for. The new breed of pizza purists are reshaping America’s iconic fast food into an ingredient-obsessed, artisanally crafted cuisine, a cuisine that Louisville as the “foodie” city we pride ourselves on being can’t afford to fall behind in.
Here at MozzaPi we are excited to share the Neapolitan craze with our city. So excited that in addition to our mobile truck we are now planning to open the first authentic Napoletana Pizzeria in Louisville! We are currently looking for a home, in addition to our truck, where the brick oven inspires not only a meal but a lifestyle. Here at MozzaPi we are a little crazy (I mean we are throwing pie from the back of a truck) but we like to think it’s a good crazy. We’re crazy about Neapolitan, but more importantly we are crazy for freshness, crazy for local, and crazy about giving Louisville a pizzeria experience that rivals “the top twenty.” We think our pizza loving city can use another dot on that map of pizzerias and we just can’t wait to tell you where it will be!
